White the update does set about including a lot of new Pokemon like the Gen 2 starters Chikorita, Cyndaquil & Totodile. It also offers the opportunity to evolve existing Pokemon into exciting new species, Such as:
Golbat can now evolve into Crobat, Slowpoke can evolve in to Slowking, Onix to Steelix, Chanset to Blissey, Seadra into Kingdra..... etc
However, these evolutions are not run of the mill and in some cases require much more than Pokemon Candy as pervious evolutions.
Well, Here you go... the Pokemon Go Gen 2 Evolutions:
Golbat into Crobat - 100 candy is all you need
Slowpoke into Slowking - You'll need to obtain a King's Rock item from a Pokestop, which is used together with 50 candy
Onix into Steelix - You'll need to obtain a Metal Coat item from a Pokestop, which is used together with 50 Onix candy
Gloom into Bellossom - You'll need to obtain a Sun Stone item from a Pokestop, which is used together with 100 candy
Chansey into Blissey - 50 candy is all you need
Poliwhirl into Politoed - You'll need to obtain a King's Rock item from a Pokestop, which is used together with 100 candy
Seadra into Kingdra - You'll need to obtain a Dragon Scale item from a Pokestop, which is used together with 100 candy
Scyther into Scizor - You'll need to obtain a Metal Coat item from a Pokestop, which is used together with 50 Scyther candy
Porygon into Porygon 2 - You'll need to obtain a Up-Grade item from a Pokestop, which is used together with 50 candy
In the case of Eevee evolving into Espeon and Umbreon, you also need a little secret tip to help you select which creature you'll evolve into.
Previously when evolving Eevee players were required change the name of the Pokemon to one of the names of the three Eevee brothers from the Pokémon television show.
As a result, each name would guarantee either a Jolteon, Vaporeon and Flareon. Similarly, players must now name their Eevee “Tamao" to receive an Umbreon and “Sakura” for an Espeon.
For those not familiar with the Pokemon series, Tamao and Sakura were once again characters who owned Umbreon and Espeon respectively.
Eevee into Espeon / Umbreon - You'll need to rename your Eevee into 'Tamao' (For an Umbreon) and Sakura (For an Espeon), which is used together with 25 candy
New Encounter Gameplay: When you encounter Pokémon in the wild, don’t be surprised if they react in new ways as you’re trying to catch them. You’ll also notice the addition of new item carousels that allow you to select Berries and Poké Balls directly from the encounter screen. Hone your skills and catch those elusive Pokémon!
New Berries: Pokémon enjoy eating Berries, and you’ll have the opportunity to get two new Berries by spinning the Photo Disc at PokéStops—Nanab Berries and Pinap Berries! Giving a Pokémon a Nanab Berry will slow its movements, making it easier to catch. The Pinap Berry doubles the amount of Candy you’ll receive if your next catch attempt succeeds.
New Avatars and an Expanded Wardrobe: Now you’ll be able to give your avatar a complete upgrade! Customise your look with a whole new selection of hats, shirts, pants, and other items.
